| Summary, etc. | Housing represents more than just a physical dwelling; it is central to our social, psychological and cultural security (Abramsson et al. 2002). Housing inequality, in terms of access to appropriate housing, to the locational amenities that come with housing, and the housing experience, is responsible for considerable social disadvantage across the world. For recently arrived international migrants, finding adequate, affordable housing has been demonstrated to be important for their adjustment, particularly during the initial settlement period (Murdie and Teixeira 2003: 8). |
