N2  - While “refugees’ crisis” is at the forefront of the Italian political debate, little attention has been devoted to the actual implementation of the national system for asylum seekers receptions (both in its institutional side and in its emergency side). Nevertheless, domestic hospitality emerged as a crucial social innovation in different contests. The rationale is the idea of activating local communities in order to either reduce stereotypes or offering refugees opportunities to enjoy social networks. Since 2008, domestic hospitality found its way in the official SPRAR approach, in the emergency solution put forward by social cooperatives and in the third sector autonomous experiences of “third hospitality”.
The article, built on an empirical research which mapped these experiences, aims at analysing domestic hospitality as a case of co-production and at identifying the actual role played by different actors involved
