The 'History of the Parliament of NSW' has been undertaken at the suggestion of the Speaker, Sir Kevin Ellis and financed by a grant from the State Government. The 'history' is based on a study of all available official sources, published material and unpublished documents, theses etc., and represents the only complete and detailed survey of the Mother Parliament of Australia from the inception of responsible government up to 1965. Apart from tracing the evolution of the Legislature there is an account of the administrative staffs of the parliament and of the institutional aspects of Parliament. The 'history' contains valuable tables and appendices and bibliographical notes.
